1997-98 : Purchase of Mobile Operating Van

Project Details: : – RCK supported the purchase of a Mobile Operating Van proposed by ADRA. The van was purchased with the financial assistance of RC Epping, Australia. – Mobile Clinic Van purchased under the Matching Grant No. 8234 in cooperation with Rotary Clubs in Australia was donated to Rasuwa Community Health Center. Rtn. J.A. Castely and Rtn. MAlcomDeall were heavily involved in the project implementation in RY 1997-98.

1996-97 : Establishment of Saraswati Teacher’s Resource Center at Shuva Tara School

Project Details: : – In March 1997, The Rotary Foundation approved a Matching Grant of $16,000 to establish Saraswati Teacher’s Resource Center at Shuva Tara School.

1996-97 : Establishment of Poison Control Center

Project Details: : – In collaboration with Dublin-Worthington, USA a Poison Control Center was established and was inaugurated by US Ambassador Julia Chang Bloch. RCK had proposed that center.

1995-96 : ADRA/Rotary Australia joint program initiatives in Nepal

Project Details: : RCK agreed to support ADRA/Rotary Australia joint program initiatives in Nepal as follows: • Rotary volunteer support for the Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center at Bansbari that included site manager for six months. • Rotary support the overall volunteer construction objectives of NHC for up to five year period, • Construction of Scheer Memorial Hospital Staff Quarter Building at Banepa, • Support for the construction of a Clinic and Primary Health Care Training Centre at Kalikasthan, Rasuwa. • The above mentioned projects were jointly sponsored by Rotary Clubs of Australia and ADRA. Rtn. Ron Marcus and Paul Dulhunty were heavily involved with these projects. • A MBBS Student Umesh Chandra Sharma was awarded full expense for his study for three years with the contribution of RCK Members.

1994-95/1995-96 : Establishment of Bhaktapur Cancer Care Centre

Project Details: : – Rotary Club of Mansfiled initiated the Nepal Cancer Project to provide Radiotherapy services at Bhaktapur Hospital establishing Bhaktapur Cancer Care Centre in response to a request made by Nepal Cancer Relief Society through Rotary Club of Kathmandu in RY 1994-95. - Rotary Club of Mansfield and Rotary Club of Kathmandu Jointly applied for a 3-H grant of $ 373,025 for the Bhaktapur Cancer Care Centre. Rotary Clubs of Kathmandu-Mid town, Ktm North, Patan and Patan West co-sponsored the project contributing US$1000 each in RY 1995-96. - The project continued till 1996-97. – On 6 November, 1996 The Rotary Foundation Trustees approved the total grant of $ 3,78,025 for Bhaktapur Cancer Care Centre.
