Toilet Renovation at Sano Sansar School Sindhupalchok Enhances Hygiene and Supports Rural Students

14 July 2025, Sipapkhare, Sindhupalchok – Sano Sansar School, a community-based educational institution in rural Sipapkhare, has marked a significant milestone with the renovation and handover of its long-awaited toilet facilities. Established to provide practical and quality education to children in the region, the school has been a pillar of hope-especially after the devastating earthquake of 2015. In the years following the disaster, the Swiss community contributed to the construction of a nine-room kindergarten block, enabling the school to run classes from playgroup to Grade 4. Today, Sano Sansar School continues to serve 93 students with the support of eight dedicated teachers and additional staff, playing a crucial role in the community’s educational and social development.

Despite this progress, the school faced a major challenge as its original toilet facility, constructed in 2016, became nonfunctional and inadequate for daily use. To address this urgent need, the Toilet Reconstruction Project was launched to restore and upgrade the sanitation infrastructure, ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for students and staff. The Rotary Club of Kathmandu took the lead in this effort, successfully renovating the toilet block and significantly improving the school’s hygiene standards. The renovated facility was formally handed over in the presence of Rotary Club of Kathmandu President Rajendra Gautam, marking a meaningful step toward enhancing student well-being, promoting regular school attendance, and supporting the overall growth of children in this rural community. The worth of the project was NRs. 200,000.
