Rotary Haat Bazaar 2026 Debuts in Nepal, Attracts 5,200 Visitors to Promote Local Entrepreneurs

Kathmandu, Jan 25, 2026 – For the first time in the history of Rotary in Nepal, a two-day Rotary Haat Bazaar was successfully organized on 24–25 January 2026 at the Rotary Bhawan, Thapathali, Kathmandu. The event marked a significant milestone in Rotary’s efforts to promote community engagement and economic empowerment. Over the course of two days, the bazaar attracted more than 5,200 visitors, reflecting strong public interest and enthusiastic participation from the community.

The Rotary Haat Bazaar showcased and sold a wide range of products produced by local and home-based entrepreneurs. Visitors had the opportunity to explore handicrafts, traditional art, homemade and organic food items, fashion and lifestyle products, and a variety of creative goods. The event created a vibrant marketplace atmosphere, giving small entrepreneurs-especially women and home-based producers-a valuable platform to display and sell their products directly to consumers.

Beyond commercial activities, the bazaar also emphasized social service and family-friendly engagement. Free dental check-ups were provided for visitors, while entertainment programs and a dedicated children’s play area added to the festive spirit. A variety of food stalls featuring local flavors further enhanced the experience, making the event enjoyable for families and visitors of all ages.

Special programs were organized for youth and children to encourage creativity and personal development. These included a painting competition, public speaking training and competition, magic shows, and face painting activities. Such initiatives not only entertained participants but also helped build confidence, communication skills, and artistic expression among young attendees.

The primary objective of the Rotary Haat Bazaar was to create a common platform that promotes small entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment, local products, arts and culture, and meaningful community engagement. The event strongly promoted the “Buy Local” concept by providing direct market access to small producers without intermediaries. It offered affordable stall opportunities for emerging entrepreneurs, supported branding and visibility for new businesses, encouraged sustainable and handmade products, and facilitated networking among entrepreneurs, Rotary leaders, and community stakeholders.

The event was jointly organized by the Rotary Club of Kathmandu along with the Rotary Club of Kathmandu Downtown, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Metro, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Circle, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Heights, Rotary Club of Gongabu, Rotary Club of Tinkune, Rotary Club of Matribhumi Baluwatar, Rotary Club of Patan, Rotary Club of Bagmati Kathmandu, Rotary Club of Balaju, Rotary Club of Madhyapur, Rotary Club of Rajdhani, and Rotary Club of Hetauda. The program was coordinated by Rtn. Rajendra Gautam, President of the Rotary Club of Kathmandu, and Rtn. Nirmal Dhakal, President of the Rotary Club of Matribhumi Baluwatar, whose leadership and dedication were instrumental in the successful execution of this historic event.

The Rotary Haat Bazaar 2026 stands as a powerful example of how Rotary can actively contribute to strengthening local economies, preserving culture, empowering women and youth, and fostering unity within the community. The overwhelming response from visitors and participants suggests strong potential for the event to grow into a flagship annual initiative supporting sustainable local development across Nepal.
