Rotary Clubs Join Forces to Plant 600 Trees Using Miyawaki Technique at Sano Hattiban

The Rotary Club of Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Rotary Clubs of Patan, Bagmati, Balaju, and Yala, planted 600 saplings on 26 July 2025 at Sano Hattiban, Lalitpur, using the Miyawaki technique.

This method focuses on planting a dense variety of native tree species in a compact area to speed up forest growth and enhance biodiversity. By mimicking natural forest succession, the closely planted trees grow faster as they compete for sunlight and nutrients, leading to the development of a self-sustaining mini-forest.

In addition to this event, more than 150 Rotary clubs across Nepal participated in Rotary Plantation Day 2025, collectively planting over 50,000 saplings in one day as part of a district-wide environmental initiative.
