Sindhuli, 1 September 2025 – A newly constructed girls’ toilet facility has been completed and officially handed over at Shree Kalika Secondary School, Pallo Rampur, Kamalamai Municipality-7, Sindhuli, providing safer and improved sanitation for more than 282 students. The project was implemented by the Rotary Club of Kathmandu in coordination with the Rotaract Club of Sindhuligadi, with support from partner clubs from Australia.
During the handover ceremony, led by Rtr. Nabindeep Devkota, President of the Rotaract Club of Sindhuligadi, school officials and community representatives expressed deep appreciation for the initiative. They highlighted how essential proper sanitation is for creating a safe, dignified, and supportive learning environment-especially for girls.
The new menstrual-friendly toilet facility is expected to significantly benefit students during their periods by providing privacy, hygiene, and comfort. This improvement is also anticipated to boost the attendance rate of girl students, who often miss school due to inadequate sanitation and lack of proper facilities.
Such enhancements are crucial in rural schools, where improved WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) infrastructure directly contributes to better health, reduced absenteeism, and enhanced academic performance. The initiative aligns with Rotary’s Areas of Focus, reaffirming Rotary’s long-term commitment to fostering healthier, more inclusive educational spaces. The collaboration between local and international partners underscores the impact of global support in uplifting rural communities and empowering young learners.
