Girls Toilet Project

Girls Toilet Project

RC Kathmandu is currently working to construct Girl’s friendly toilet in different remote schools. Due to lack of proper sanitation the school teachers and students are forced to practice open defecation. Many girls miss school in Nepal during menstruation due to lack of sanitation facilities.

Open defecation is still practiced by 16 per cent of the population (NDHS). Twenty per cent of government schools lack improved water and sanitation facilities, with an additional 19 per cent lacking separate toilets for girls and boys and menstrual hygiene management facilities.

Each year RC Kathmandu is constructing at least two toilets for girls to empower them.
