Major Projects and Achievements of the Rotary Club of Kathmandu (Rotary Year 2025–26)

• The 68th Installation Ceremony of the Rotary Club of Kathmandu was successfully held on 2 July 2025 at Best Western Plus Hotel, Kathmandu. Rtn. Rajendra Gautam was formally installed as the youngest President in the Club’s history. The ceremony was graced by the Honorable Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi, Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, as the Chief Guest, and District Governor Rtn. Binod Koirala as the Guest of Honour.
• On 1 July 2025, the Rotary Club of Kathmandu donated NRs. 50,000 to Rudranju Pratisthan, a foundation dedicated to the welfare and well-being of senior citizens.
• The Rotary Club of Kathmandu successfully completed 26 ICT Training Programs for 585 public school teachers from 279 schools across all seven provinces of Nepal, with a total project value of NRs. 1,306,619.
• The Club constructed girls-friendly toilet facilities at 11 schools, one child welfare institution, one police station, and for two Dalit families, benefiting more than 5,000 students and community members. The project, valued at NRs. 5,600,000, covered schools in Banke, Baglung, Gulmi, Kavrepalanchok, Panchthar, Kalikot, Kathmandu, and other locations.
• Under its School Support Project, the Club provided school bags, stationery, tracksuits, and sports materials to 5,073 primary school students from 51 public schools across more than 15 remote districts of Nepal. Supported by Project Jhola, the School Backpack Project, and the Sports Materials Distribution Program, the initiative was valued at NRs. 7,800,105.
• The Club provided primary education scholarships worth NRs. 2,747,500 to 785 students studying in nine adopted schools located in Sindhuli, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Tanahun, and Makawanpur.
• The Rotary Club of Kathmandu organized 30 school-based Mental Health Awareness Programs, benefiting more than 5,000 students. It also successfully conducted the symposium “Mind Matters: A Holistic Approach to Mental Well-being” and a Training of Trainers (ToT) on Stress Management.
• A Computer Vocational Training Centre for human trafficking survivors was established in Butwal at a cost of NRs. 1,155,000, providing survivors with valuable digital skills and livelihood opportunities.
• In response to the Gen Z Movement protests in Nepal, the Club launched a Humanitarian Relief Program with a contribution of NRs. 561,195. The initiative supported the Thapathali Traffic Police Office with computers, a printer, and furniture; constructed toilet facilities at Dharmasthali Police Station; renovated the water treatment system at the Valley Traffic Police Office, Baggikhana; and supported Bhaisepati, Badegaun, and Basundhara Police Stations. In recognition of these contributions, Club President Rtn. Rajendra Gautam was recognized during special ceremony by Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki on behalf of the Nepal Police.
• For the first time in the history of Rotary in Nepal, the Rotary Club of Kathmandu successfully organized a two-day Rotary Haat Bazaar on 24–25 January 2026 at Rotary Bhawan, Thapathali. The event promoted community engagement and economic empowerment, attracting more than 5,200 visitors over the two-day period.
• In partnership with Sambhav Inc. and the Stanford Montessori Training Center, the Club organized a seven-day Montessori Training Program titled “Building Early Childhood Educators through Montessori Training” for 20 women and girls in Tarakeshwar Municipality, Kathmandu, from 14–20 December 2025.
• Under Global Grant GG2578154, the Club handed over a Phaco Machine, an advanced cataract surgery device, to the B.P. Eye Foundation on 15 January 2026. The project, valued at USD 39,255, was implemented in the presence of District Governor Binod Koirala, Club President Rajendra Gautam, Rotarians from Japan, Assistant Governor Sumeera Shrestha, and district officials.
• Under Global Grant GG2466748, titled “Uplifting Health Clinics in Nepal,” the Club donated essential medical equipment worth USD 30,800 to Chhatrapati Free Clinic Hospital on 26 February 2026. The equipment included a Coagulation Analyzer, Automated ESR Analyzer, Centrifuge Machine, Digital Semi-Automatic Autoclave, 90-Litre Autoclave, Video FNL Scope with Portable Monitor, and Lensometer, significantly strengthening healthcare services for underserved communities.
• The Rotary Club of Kathmandu celebrated its 68th Charter Anniversary alongside its 3292nd regular weekly meeting on April 13, 2026, at the Best Western Plus Hotel achieving A Historic Double Milestone in Rotary District 3292.
• The “Sports for Smiles” District Grant Project was successfully implemented in 11 schools of Mahawai Rural Municipality, Kalikot, on 12 May 2026, providing sports materials worth NRs. 432,300 to improve recreational opportunities for children studying in remote public schools.
• The Dignified Menstruation Project, implemented with technical support from Connection Nepal, was conducted in 11 public schools of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality, Kathmandu. The project included a two-day reusable sanitary pad-making training and Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management (MHHM) orientation sessions, with a total value of NRs. 200,000.
• In coordination with the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island, the Club handed over mobile dental equipment worth NRs. 823,000 to the B.P. Eye Foundation on 24 June 2026 to strengthen community outreach dental services. The equipment included a Portable Dental Unit with Scaler, Apex Locator, Electric Pulp Tester, Intraoral Scanner, Intraoral Scanner Printer, Heavy-Duty Compressor, Portable Dental Chair, Air Rotor Handpiece, Micromotor, and a laptop.
• In collaboration with the Rotary Club of Hetauda, the Club constructed a drinking water system with Reverse Osmosis (RO) facilities at Shree Rastriya Secondary School, Bhimphedi-1, Sanutar, Makawanpur, at a cost of NRs. 350,000, ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water for students and staff.
• The Rotary Club of Kathmandu successfully organized a series of free eye screening, cataract surgery, and medical outreach camps:
o At Dhunibesi Municipality, Dhading, 1,321 people underwent eye screening, 93 cataract cases were identified, and 68 free cataract surgeries were performed.
o In Indrasarowar Rural Municipality, Makawanpur, 350 people received eye screening, and 59 cataract surgeries were successfully completed.
o In addition, super-speciality and general health camps were organized in Kathmandu, Dhading and Godawari, expanding access to quality healthcare services for underserved communities.
• In collaboration with the Rotary Club of Kathmandu Circle, the Club distributed 20 AquaBoxes to 20 families affected by devastating fire incidents in Sarkegad Rural Municipality-3, Unapani, Humla, and Nawalparasi, providing immediate humanitarian assistance.
• In collaboration with the Rotary Clubs of Patan, Bagmati, Balaju, and Yala, the Club planted 600 trees using the Miyawaki Technique at Sano Hattiban, Lalitpur, on 26 July 2025, contributing to environmental conservation and urban reforestation.
• The Rotary Club of Kathmandu was honored at the Rotary District 3292 Awards and Recognition Program 2025–26, held on 26 June 2026, for its outstanding service and impactful community initiatives. The Club received First Position (Winner) in Best Club – Service Project, First Position (Winner) in Supporting Education (Project Jhola), First Position (Winner) in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for its Girls’ Toilet Project, and First Position (Winner) in Teachers’ Support for its ICT Training Project. In addition, the Club was awarded Second Runner-up in the Basic Education and Literacy Award category for its education support initiatives, including the distribution of sports materials to schools in remote areas of Nepal.

During the Rotary Year 2025–26, the Rotary Club of Kathmandu successfully implemented humanitarian projects across more than 50 districts of Nepal benefiting 20,000 individuals making a total contribution of over NRs. 30 million toward education, healthcare, water and sanitation, environmental conservation, disaster relief, and community development initiatives.
