Gen. Kiran SJB Rana was installed as the president:

Rotary club of Kathmandu (sponsored by RC Darbhanga, India, District 325) was chartered on April 13, 1959 and admitted into Rotary international under the District 325.
The Charter of The Rotary Club of Kathmandu (RCK) was presented on Sunday, June 28, 1959 in the presence of king Mahendra at the Army Hall. There were 30 Charter member. Gen. Kiran SJB Rana Served as Charter President for three consecutive years.
-During the meeting Rotary Club of Kathmandu proposed a school for the blind and the then prime Minister announced the establishment of a school for blind at kirtipur, Nepal.
-Dance and drama were performed by artists of Tagore’sSura Mandir institute of dance and Drama, Calcutta to collet fund for the Blind Schoolfrom November 25-29 and the proceeds were handed over to government of Nepal to run the school. King Mahendra had arranged for the air transport of the artists inhis private plane, and made arrangement for lodging and boarding in Kathmandu.
