Guest Speaker 1: “Growing Gaps in the Nepalese Humanitarian Sector: Red Cross Efforts & Urgent Call for Action.”

The Rotary Club of Kathmandu convened its 3250th regular meeting on 9th July 2025 at the Rotary Hall, Thapathali chaired by President Rajendra Gautam. The meeting was graced by the presence of Past Presidents, Club Members, Rotaractors, Interactors, and distinguished Guests.
The highlight of the meeting was a keynote address delivered by Mr. Sagar Shrestha, Director of Disaster and Crisis Management, Nepal Red Cross Society, on the timely and pressing topic: “Growing Gaps in the Nepalese Humanitarian Sector: Red Cross Efforts & Urgent Call for Action.”
Mr. Shrestha provided an insightful overview of the current challenges facing Nepal’s humanitarian landscape. He elaborated on the key areas where the Nepal Red Cross Society is actively engaged and emphasized the growing need for multi-sector collaboration. He also outlined potential avenues where Rotary Clubs can effectively contribute to addressing these challenges through coordinated action and community engagement.

The Rotary Club of Kathmandu convened its 3255th regular weekly meeting on 13 August 2025 at the Rotary Hall, Thapathali. The meeting was presided over by President Rtn. Rajendra Gautam and attended by Past Presidents, Club Members, Rotaractors, Interactors, and esteemed guests.
A key highlight of the gathering was an insightful keynote address delivered by Guest Speaker, Dr. Shree Ram Khadka, on the topic “Mathematics Education: Problems, Way Forward, and Expectations.”
Dr. Khadka earned his Master’s degree in Mathematics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, in 1996, and completed his Ph.D. in 2012 in the field of Optimization, with a dissertation entitled “Mixed-model Just-in-time Production Systems.” He pursued post-doctoral research in Optimization at Otto-von-Guericke University, Magdeburg, Germany, in 2013, and at the University of Bremen, Germany. In 2018, he also served as a short-term visiting faculty member at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. Dr. Khadka has contributed significantly to the Nepal Mathematical Society, serving as Vice President from 2021 to 2024, during which he also coordinated the Society-to-Society (S2S) project of NMS. He is currently serving as President of the Society for the 2025–2027 term.
His presentation was both informative and inspiring, offering valuable perspectives on the current state and future direction of mathematics education. The Rotary Club of Kathmandu extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Khadka for his contribution, and to all attendees for their active participation in making the meeting a success.

The Rotary Club of Kathmandu convened its 3256th regular weekly meeting on 20 August 2025 at the Rotary Hall, Thapathali. The meeting was presided over by President Rtn. Rajendra Gautam and attended by Past Presidents, Club Members, Rotaractors, Interactors, and esteemed guests. A key highlight of the gathering was an insightful keynote address delivered by Guest Speaker, Past District Governor Rtn. Dilendra Raj Shrestha, on the topic: “The Evolution of Rotary District 3292.”
Rtn. Dilendra, a dedicated Rotarian since 1996 and a charter member of the Rotary Club of Yala, has served Rotary International Districts 3290 and 3292 in various leadership roles, including as District Governor for RI District 3292 (Nepal and Bhutan) in 2013–14. He is also a proud recipient of the Rotary Service Above Self Award, the highest honor awarded by Rotary International.
His presentation not only highlighted the evolution of Rotary District 3292 but also shed light on the history of Rotary in Nepal and the challenging journey and struggles faced in establishing our own district. Members deeply appreciated his reflections, which offered valuable insights into the perseverance and vision that shaped Rotary in our region.

The Rotary Club of Kathmandu held its 3267th regular meeting under the leadership of President Rtn. Rajendra Gautam, with enthusiastic participation from Past Presidents, senior Rotarians, members, and distinguished guests.
Key Highlights: • Rtn. Amit Giri, District Public Image Chair and Past President of the Rotary Club of Rajdhani, delivered an insightful and inspiring session on “Public Image in Rotary.”He emphasized the importance of strengthening Rotary’s public image and brand-highlighting how visibility, effective communication, and strategic outreach amplify the impact of every service project. His message reinforced how a strong public image not only reflects Rotary’s values but also inspires community trust, partnerships, and wider engagement.
• The meeting featured vibrant discussions and meaningful interactions, contributing to a productive and motivational gathering for all attendees.• We were also honored by the presence of fellow Rotary leaders:

Key Highlights • Guest Speaker: Mr. Bidur Adhikari delivered an insightful talk on “Bhagavad Gita: A Practical Guide for Mental Peace & Holistic Health.”He highlighted how the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita remain deeply relevant in modern life, emphasizing:
• Self-awareness and duty (Dharma): Performing one’s responsibilities with sincerity and integrity.
• Mental balance: Practicing equanimity in success and failure to reduce stress and anxiety.
• Selfless action (Karma Yoga): Working without attachment to results, fostering inner peace.
• Control of mind and emotions: Developing clarity, focus, and resilience in daily life.
The session underscored why following the principles of the Bhagavad Gita is important for human life-promoting ethical living, emotional stability, holistic health, and harmony within society.
