11 July, 2025 – Shree Jhor Mahankal Secondary School in Tokha Municipality Ward No. 1 has taken a significant step toward improving the health and well-being of its students through the reconstruction of its girls’ toilet. Established in 2035 B.S., the school serves 375 students, with nearly 60 percent being girls. Under the leadership of Principal Bhimsen Adhikari, the institution has continued to prioritize a safe and supportive learning environment, recognizing proper sanitation as a vital component of quality education.
The reconstruction project was carried out with the support of the RC Bordertown, RAWCS, Rotary Club of Kathmandu and the District Basic Education and Literacy (RNLM). Rotary Club of Kathmandu acknowledged the urgent need for upgraded sanitation facilities and jointly contributed to the initiative. Their involvement highlights a growing commitment from community partners to strengthen school infrastructure and promote student welfare.
According to school representatives, the new girls’ toilet is expected to significantly improve hygiene practices, support students’ physical and mental well-being, and provide a more child-friendly environment. Importantly, the upgraded facility will also help ensure that girl students can attend school comfortably during their menstrual periods, reducing absenteeism and promoting greater inclusion. The project is anticipated to benefit both students and teachers, contributing to a cleaner, healthier, and more supportive school community. The project was handed over by President Rajendra Gautam and RAWCS volunteers from Australia. The worth of the project was NRs. 239,649.
