Baglung, May 3, 2026 – The Rotary Club of Kathmandu successfully handed over a newly constructed Girls’ Toilet facility at Shree Bhrikuti Secondary School, Baglung. The project was formally handed over by Club President Rajendra Gautam to the School Management Committee in the presence of school representatives, teachers, students, and local community members.
This important initiative is expected to benefit more than 160 students, particularly adolescent girls, by providing safe, hygienic, and dignified sanitation facilities within the school premises. Access to proper sanitation is essential for creating a healthy and inclusive learning environment where students can attend school comfortably and confidently.
The construction of dedicated girls’ toilet facilities will play a significant role in improving school attendance and reducing absenteeism among female students. In many rural and semi-urban communities, inadequate sanitation facilities remain a major barrier to girls’ education, especially during menstruation. By ensuring privacy, cleanliness, and safety, the project helps girls continue their education with greater dignity and confidence.
The initiative closely aligns with Rotary’s Areas of Focus, particularly Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Basic Education and Literacy, and Maternal and Child Health. Rotary’s commitment to improving sanitation and educational infrastructure reflects its broader mission of building healthier communities and supporting equal opportunities for all children.
In addition to promoting hygiene and health, the project encourages a more supportive educational environment where girls can fully participate in academic and extracurricular activities. Improved sanitation facilities contribute to better health practices, increased student retention, and enhanced overall well-being within the school community.
Through this meaningful project, the Rotary Club of Kathmandu continues to demonstrate its dedication to community service and sustainable development, helping create a brighter and healthier future for the students of Baglung.
