1996-97 : Krishna M. Timilsina was installed as the President:
– Rtn. Tehmas RJC Manekshaw, Past President of Rotary Club of Kathmandu was installed as the District Governer of 3290. He became the first DG from Nepal in 37 years of Rotary in Nepal.
– On 6 November, 1996 The Rotary Foundation Trustees approved the total grant of $ 3,78,025 for Bhaktapur Cancer Care Centre.
– On 6 November 1996 Rotaract Club of Kathamndu, sponsored by RCK was chartered.
– Rotary District 3290 Conference was held at Royal Nepal Academy Hall on 21-22 February 1997.
– The conference was attended by RIPR PRID M.K. PandurangaSetty, DG TehmasManekshaw, PDG Jagdish Rana (from Shimla), PDG Subimal Ghosh, PDG Amit Kumar Majumdar, PDG Amiya Shanker Gupta, PDG Mihir Roy, PDG Vijay S. Bhandari, PDG Jyotindra M. Vakil, PDG Amitava Bhattacharya, DGN Anjan Kumar and president of host club Kathmandu and co host clubs of Calcutta.
– In January First National Immunization Days were observed in Nepal and RCK played the lead role to make the polio eradication campaign. PP Dr. Jogendra Jha of RCK was the Chairman of PolioPus National Immunization Committee.
– Rtn. TehmasManekshaw, a member of RCK was awarded Benefactors Recognition by the Trustee of The Rotary Foundation.
– In collaboration with Dublin-Worthington, USA a Poison Control Center was established and was inaugurated by US Ambassador Julia Chang Bloch. RCK had proposed that center.
– In collaboration of Rotary C lub of Chiba-West, Japan a second drinking water project was proposed for Salyansthan (RVC) village, near Kritipur at the cost US$ 3,500.
– A group of Gandharvas whose only means of livelihood was on the brink of collapse were provided financial support which made them capable for earning their bread.
– RCK provided immediate relief to the flood and landslide victims of Dolakha.
– Dr. Binod Kumar Parmar, MsSamjhanaUprety and Rtr. Paras Pokharel were selected for the Rotary Foundation Japan Ambassadorial Scholarship.
– In March 1997, The Rotary Foundation approved a Matching Grant of $16,000 to establish Saraswati Teacher’s Resource Center at Shuva Tara School.
– Extension of one big room at the Community Health Center at RVC Salyansthan.
